Àlvar Farré

Àlvar Farré (b.1962) creates works that invoke strong reminiscence of a simpler lifestyle in the secret tribes of his imagination. Alvar himself was born in Angola and the characters in his pieces are heavily influenced by, amongst others, the Mwela people in southern Angola, in the area of Huila. The colourful fabrics and semi-nomadic lifestyle of Àlvar’s depicted tribes lend a charming ease to Àlvar’s pieces, creating a lush world outside the concrete jungle of the modern city that blurs reality and fiction.

Having received his education in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona in 1988, Àlvar has gone on to exhibit extensively in Spain and other parts of the world, including the United Kingdom and Chile.
