Spanish artist shows his love for Singapore at solo exhibition

Singapore - Contemporary fine art gallery Barnadas Huang hosted an exclusive preview of 'Blazing City', the solo exhibition by Spanish artist Ulpiano Carrasco, featuring Singapore's skyline and architecture.

The works by Carrasco have been showcased in private collections, exhibitions and museums around the world, including Singapore and Hong Kong.

Held at the Dempsey gallery on Jan 16, the event saw 120-strong turn-out with guest-of-honour Federico Palomera Guez, Spanish ambassador to Singapore, and Spanish art aficionado, Syded Hasan Javed, high commissioner of Pakistan to Singapore.

Carrasco's signature vivid style was showcased through 13 paintings unveiled at the exhibition. Historic and popular places like Fullerton Hotel, Boat Quay and the Marina Bay area were portrayed in saturated primary colours, capturing the energy of Singapore.

Barnadas Huang's director Weiren Loh called Carrasco's works dynamic, powerful and highly complex, while guest Christropher J Brickhill said the Spanish artist's passion for Singapore is evident in his art pieces.

The paintings are available exclusively to Barnadas Huang and eight art works are for sale. Prices start from approximately $18,000 for the smaller works and about $55,000 for the starring piece.

The exhibition runs till March 1, 2014.
